The Keeney Angus Bull Sale will be March 5, 2005 at Keeney Angus, 5 miles West of Somerset, Kentucky on Hwy 80. Our 40 top Angus bulls will sell. Complete data will appear here a couple of weeks before sale day. Below are a few pictures of the bulls taken in November 2004 after starting on feed test.
Mike,
Best of the New year to you from Western Ky, our family along with the 3 other guys that sold at the Hopkinsville Sale were very pleased with the results. My steers averaged 750 lbs and sold for 1.04, the heifers averaged 684 and sold for 1.04, we thought the steers sold a little weak but the heifers made up for it .ADG for both groups was around 2.3 lbs per day, on fescue pasture, soyhull pellets and soybean meal, hand fed twice a day.My 30 calves graded LM1&2, Warren Beeler Ky Dept of Ag stated that my calves where easy to grade and looked as good as any at the sale.
Now for the reason I'm writing, Dr. Ward and I are planning on coming to the spring bull sale in March, We would like to have a catalog if you please. Any advise on a bull for me would be appreciated as I am pleased with with results of the bull I have now, I don't retain any heifers for myself, I am interested in pounds.
Dr. Ward will be looking for a bull to retain heifers from, he has my bull leased breeding a fall herd for the hopes of getting some heifers, last year he sired mostly bulls for him.
I have been well satisfied with this bull, he is a easy keeper, gentle and sired calves that work with my Brangus/Angus cows in the CPH program.
Look forward to seeing you in March.
Charlie
Many people understand that we raise the right kind of bull to sire the best functional females in KY and the Southeast, but how do Keeney Angus sired calves grow and sell?
